21 Hour Photo

Yesterday I began the "Godspeed" mural at Just Fitness onPhillips/Baymeadows in their new spin classroom. Started at 7a.m. and finished at 5a.m. this morning. The whole thing in 21 hours! I was a bit delusional by the end of it but that's no surprise. Currently working on the video so give me a few days and I'll have that up for your viewing pleasure. I'll also go back and snap a few shots of the mural once they get the black lights in the ceiling up and running. Entire thing is aerosol. Also included a photo with me in it just to show you scale of the thing. Enjoy!

Augment Of Rebirth

Wood burned skate deck "Augment of Rebirth" finally completed. Wood burn/distressed wood stain/ acrylic/ poly coated on maple ply deck. This piece was inspired by a painting I began the morning my friend Jeremy died in a car accident but could never bring myself to finish. This is dedicated to you Jeremy.

sinkhole

I haven't posted updates in awhile. I've been extremely busy with applying for this job transfer and the new floorset and all. So I have an update of the wood burning, some floorset wall elevation design sketches and me bouldering drained sinkholes and lake beds in Suwannee.
Maybe this will hold you over until I can finish some projects?

David Adrian Smith

I doubt that there is much I need to actually say about this mans craft, skill, and overall talent. I'm in complete awe at the work that he has produced. I used to think that sinking 86 hours into a painting was tiresome and difficult. I said "used to" because after seeing this what I do looks like a cake walk. Childs play. There is no margin for error in his work, he has to be perfect at his craft 100% of the time. I would love to one day reach a skill and intensity of this caliber.

cypher

Theres a good reason I'm obsessed/fascinated by cephalopods. I've actually been using some form of them in my paintings as a "self portrait" of sorts. The biggest reason being that they can create almost any kind of illusion and take many forms. This is what I try to achieve as an artist in my work. So it's only natural that I have taken a great interest in octopi.

back to our regularly scheduled programing...

With all these extra gigs over and out of my way I've taken back to finishing up the "sowing season". Hopefully I'll be able to at least get this one finished before the deadline on the 12th for the upcoming show.

Canned Goods

Just finished my creative submission for work this quarter. This time around they wanted us to explore new materials. It could only be one item and had to have multiple applications for an upcoming floorset. We also had to provide renderings/sketches of how we planned to implement this new building material. I came up with empty paint cans as mine and below is submitted booklet.
Enjoy.

This Phosphorus Kiss

Illustration on skate deck of a Phoenix emerging from a flaming corpse.
Trying my hand at wood burning. May even add a hint of light stain as an offset....treated much like watercolor.
Going back to my oldschool inking/comic book roots on this one. Ah, the good ole' days of Alan Forbes skateboard and punk album covers.
