David Adrian Smith

I doubt that there is much I need to actually say about this mans craft, skill, and overall talent. I'm in complete awe at the work that he has produced. I used to think that sinking 86 hours into a painting was tiresome and difficult. I said "used to" because after seeing this what I do looks like a cake walk. Childs play. There is no margin for error in his work, he has to be perfect at his craft 100% of the time. I would love to one day reach a skill and intensity of this caliber.

cypher

Theres a good reason I'm obsessed/fascinated by cephalopods. I've actually been using some form of them in my paintings as a "self portrait" of sorts. The biggest reason being that they can create almost any kind of illusion and take many forms. This is what I try to achieve as an artist in my work. So it's only natural that I have taken a great interest in octopi.

back to our regularly scheduled programing...

With all these extra gigs over and out of my way I've taken back to finishing up the "sowing season". Hopefully I'll be able to at least get this one finished before the deadline on the 12th for the upcoming show.

Canned Goods

Just finished my creative submission for work this quarter. This time around they wanted us to explore new materials. It could only be one item and had to have multiple applications for an upcoming floorset. We also had to provide renderings/sketches of how we planned to implement this new building material. I came up with empty paint cans as mine and below is submitted booklet.
Enjoy.

This Phosphorus Kiss

Illustration on skate deck of a Phoenix emerging from a flaming corpse.
Trying my hand at wood burning. May even add a hint of light stain as an offset....treated much like watercolor.
Going back to my oldschool inking/comic book roots on this one. Ah, the good ole' days of Alan Forbes skateboard and punk album covers.
